Wu-Yi – A Better and Healthier Choice of Tea

By WuYiReview | Aug 17, 2008

Wu Yi Wu Long DietTea lovers, especially those who had tried brewing and infusing loose leaf tea in their homes are probably aware of the existence of Wu-Yi.
Wu-Yi Tea is in fact an Oolong Tea which had been processes - oxidized and roasted to give rise to its distinctive dark and richer presentation. It has a distinctive taste which can range from flowery to sweet to coffee tasting.

Ideally, Wu-Yi Tea like Rougui Wuyi is dark-roasted, earthly tasting and rich which is just like coffee. How it is processed and roasted alters the subtle properties of this well-known Chinese tea like the colour of its leaves, astringency, aroma and taste. The longer it is roasted, the darker the flavour becomes.

Wu-Yi Shuixian is another interesting and amazing Wu Yi with a great robust taste. It also has a dark leaf with earthly flavour with a more flowery aroma. By brewing this variety the gongfu style, you will get two to three infusions with each infusion having a slight difference in aroma, colour and complexity.

These two varieties of Wu-Yi Teas are excellent in aiding digestion and they also contain adequate amounts of anti-oxidants.

Both Wu-Yi and Wu-Long Teas contain two powerful and potent anti-oxidants which are known as theaflavins and thearubigins. These two anti-oxidants have the same power as the polyphenol, EGCG, which is usually found in green tea.

Studies show that Wu-Yi, Wu-Long and green teas are excellent and superior sources of atni-oxidants. The theaflavins and thearubigins and EGCG are 100 times more powerful and effective as compared to vitamin C and about 25 times more powerful compared to vitamin E in terms of destroying free radicals. This proves that tea is good for the body and it guarantees multiple health benefits, promotes wellness and stimulates metabolism.
As a natural calorie-burner and alternative for coffee, Wu-Yi teas absolutely offer a better choice. There are several varieties to choose from and it would be great to experiment until you find the right taste and aroma that suits you best.

Wu-Yi Tea offers superior health benefits not found in other beverages. Look younger, enjoy a youthful glow, experience a healthier and trimmer figure and feel a boost in your energy levels with Wu-Yi tea.

I’ve been taking wu-yi for about 3 months now. I have lost 19 pounds so far. I drink a cup when I sit down at work in the morning and again after lunch. I’ll be purchasing more here shortly. Thanks wu-yi
